Kerala is situated on the south western tip of India and it is at a distance of 300 miles to the south of Goa.

The landmass of Kerala stretches to about 38,863 sq. km. This is 1.18% of the total landmass of India. It is sandwiched between the Arabian Sea on the west and the Western Ghats on the east, which has the reputation of one among the world’s 20 biodiversity hotspots. It is well situated in the humid equatorial tropical area.

The length of the state’s coastline is about 360 km. The width of the state ranges between 35 and 120 km (22-75 miles). Kerala can be divided into three geographical regions. They are the eastern highlands, the central midlands and the western lowlands. The eastern highlands consist of the majestic mountains, while the central midlands are dotted with hills and the western lowlands contain the coastal plains.
